Premier homebuilder wins three BAHV Pinnacle Awards, including Best Community

(Mahopac, NY, December 2006) – On Tuesday, December 5, 2006, the Builders Association of the Hudson Valley, NY, held their first annual Pinnacle Awards banquet, and Wyndham Homes, Inc. was presented with top honors for Construction Project Manager of the Year, Sales Manager of the Year and Best Community of 41 homes or more.

Wyndham Homes' President Richard Schunk accepted the Best Community award for Willow Ridge, a distinctive neighborhood of 70 unique homes in Carmel, NY. The homes display the elegant architecture, quality craftsmanship and diversity of style made possible by Wyndham's exclusive "Flexibuild Home Design System," an ingenious tool that gives buyers the flexibility to mix and match options until they arrive at a home style that's right for them. The winning community also contains the luxury touches and detailing that are the company's trademark, such as the stone-pillared entrance, streets curbed with Belgian Block, and carefully planned landscaping to preserve old growth and accentuate the views. "We've always set high standards for ourselves and our work," Schunk said afterwards, "and it's very gratifying to receive this acknowledgement from our peers."

Also honored were Wyndham team members Connie Lauterbach for Best Sales Manager of the Year and Joe Darnell for Construction Project Manager of the Year. A quick look through the grateful testimonials on the company website proves both are more than deserving of recognition. The irrepressible Lauterbach, who has been with the firm since 1994, believes her work is as much about people as product. She is as likely to tell you about the family who bought the home as she is to give you the model name or square footage. Darnell displays a mischievous grin and ready laugh but is all seriousness when it comes to his work. He commutes nearly two hours to his office at Chatfield Farms, Wyndham's new active adult community in Beacon Falls, CT, and he's always early. He's an intractable supervisor who demands quality from his crews and goes the extra mile for the customer. He's even been willing to walk every inch of a lot to satisfy a buyer despite enduring some bee stings along the way.

The Pinnacle awards, presented by the Builders Association of the Hudson Valley (BAHV), are given in several categories to recognize outstanding performances by Hudson Valley building professionals in the construction, marketing and sales of new homes. The BAHV is a not-for-profit trade association whose members include builders and contractors throughout Orange, Dutchess, Westchester, Putnam, Ulster and Sullivan Counties. In addition to serving the industry, the BAHV provides consumer education and is affiliated with both the New York State Builders Association (NYSBA) in Albany and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Washington, DC. Members of the NAHB hold themselves to a code of ethics that calls for quality and honesty in their businesses and affordability in their products.

Tuesday's award presentation took place at the Villa Barone in Mahopac, New York and was sponsored by Benchmark Title Agency, LLC; Best Plumbing, Tile & Stone; Kohler; Best Building & Supply Lumber Corp. and Citizens Bank.
